The Slash Half-Normal Distribution Applied to a Cure Rate Model with Application to Bone Marrow Transplantation

This paper proposes, for the first time, use of an asymmetric positive and heavy-tailed distribution in a cure rate model context. In particular, it introduces cure-rate survival by assuming that time-to-event interest follows slash half-normal number competing causes event power series distribution, which defines six new models. Several properties are derived alternative expression cumulative function is presented, very useful computational implementation model. A procedure based on expectation–maximization algorithm proposed parameter estimation. Two simulation studies performed to assess some estimators, showing good performance estimators finite samples. Finally, application bone marrow transplant data set presented.
